What is the Day of the Dead?

Day of the Dead, is a Mexican holiday celebrated throughout Mexico born of Mesoamerican tradition.  For centuries, this holiday based on All Souls Day, commemorates the deceased by building altars and ofrendas (offerings) with favorite items and significant possessions of those loved one's now passed.  This holiday is not one that focuses on death but rather the celebration of life!

About Virtual Day of the Dead Race:

Announcing the Day of the Dead Virtual Race, Run to Fund! On behalf of all of us on the Day of the Dead Race Team, we are excited to announce our first ever Virtual Race. For the past 7 years we have filled the streets of Talent, Oregon to honor our past loved ones, celebrating life, culture and community. As we have grown our event, we have been blown away by the support of the community, participants, volunteers and all our incredible sponsors that make this event possible. In light of the COVID-19 crisis so many of the celebrations and traditions have been altered. However, it’s our love of community and connection that unites each and everyone of us. As you all know this year has been very different, many of you have gone through the process of postponing and canceling of events, trips and celebrations, it feels like a death. Because NOTHING will stop us from honoring the people that we LOVE!
